A multi bet combining three selections
In a multi bet the odds multiply, so the return can be much higher — but if even one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.
Example — Three T20 matches (৳100 bet)
- Match 1: Team A, odds 1.60
- Match 2: Team B, odds 1.80
- Match 3: Team A, odds 1.90
- Combined odds: 1.60 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.47
- A ৳100 bet returns ৳547 if all three are correct — if even one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost
Betting Exchange Market
On an exchange you can not only back a team (Back) but also bet against them (Lay). For example, backing Team A with ৳1,000 at decimal odds of 2.50 gives a ৳1,500 profit if they win (before commission); laying them means your liability is ৳1,500 — if Team A loses, you receive ৳1,000. On an exchange, every bet has another bettor on the other side.
Live Betting — odds change with every wicket
Once the match starts, odds shift on every ball. When a wicket falls, the odds against the batting team increase; after a big six, they drop. A 5-wicket fall in the 9th over and one in the 17th over have very different effects.
A few things worth keeping in mind for in-play betting:
- If the run rate is high during the Powerplay, the batting team's odds shorten quickly
- The higher the required run rate in the death overs, the more the bowling team's chances of winning increase
- There is little time to decide in live markets — knowing the markets beforehand helps
